How To Compost at Home

Find a shady spot

Place compost bin away from trees. Mix materials thoroughly. Remember the 2 to 1 ratio when adding compostables to your pile.

Moisture + AIR

Keep your compost pile moist like a wrung-out sponge. If it’s too dry, just add water. Make sure to turn your pile every two weeks moving outside into center. Use a tarp to cover pile in dry weather.

Ready for action

When material is even in color and there is no odors your compost pile is ready. Use a screen to remove large, unwanted materials. Mix with landscaping beds or spread on your lawn. Begin again!
